BACKGROUND
The Mediterranean basin and the Red Sea are not merely contiguous regions connecting different countries. Rather, they represent a unique geographical context with common opportunities and challenges in the security as much as the economic field. A cooperative approach and coordinated efforts provide the best way forward in order to exploit the full potential of this macro-region. A closer political dialogue might serve as the perfect engine to stimulate a deeper engagement in several fields, especially the economic one, with new infrastructure projects, tourism and trade serving as a unifying tool to boost economies and foster balanced development on a regional scale.
