Farnesina – The Italian Strategy in the Mediterranean

Published on the occasion of MED 2017

‘The Italian strategy in the Mediterranean- stabilizing the crises and building a positive agenda for the region’ is a report published by Farnesina in 2017, on the occasion of the 3rd edition of MED-Mediterranean Dialogues. This publication deals with the dual, paradoxical character of the Mediterranean: on the one hand, the region is plundered by crisis and conflicts, yet on the other it plays a role of increasing importance as an economic, infrastructural and resource hub between Europe, Africa and Asia. Given the strategic momentousness of the Mediterranean, Italian engagement in the area focuses on several sectors: security, migration, economy, energy, culture and science, cooperation.
