Antonio Tajani graduated in Law from the La Sapienza University of Rome, he was an officer in the Italian Air Force. Professional journalist and parliamentary journalist, editor of Il Settimanale, he hosted the Rai Radio 1 news programme and was in charge of the Roman editorial office of Il Giornale. Among the founders of Forza Italia in 1994, he was elected to the European Parliament in 1994, 1999, 2004, 2014 and 2019. From 2008 to 2010 he was European Commissioner for Transport and from 2010 to 2014 Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner responsible for Industry and Entrepreneurship. He has been Vice-President of the European Parliament since 2014 and, as a candidate of the European People’s Party, he was President of the European Parliament from 2017 to 2019. Since 2018 he has been Vice-President of Forza Italia and since 2019 Vice-President of the European People’s Party. In the general elections of 2022 he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. Since 22 October of the same year he has been Vice President and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Meloni government.
