Maria Demertzis is an economist by training and profession. She is currently the Deputy Director at Bruegel, the Brussels based economic think tank. She has worked at the European Commission, the Research Department of the Dutch Central Bank, the Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in the US and the University of Strathclyde in the UK (Glasgow). She has published extensively in international academic journals and contributed regular policy inputs to both the European Commission’s and the Dutch Central Bank’s policy outlets.
